'Gidget' Goes to Maumee!
If you grew up on the ‘60s you know all the Gidget stories by heart! Sally Field and Sandra Dee starred as “Gidget, girl midget” in the popular surfing movies. FLOWER HOSPITAL PRESENTS FARMER’S MARKET DAY
Flower Hospital, a member of ProMedica Health System, will host a farmer’s market, giving employees and the community the opportunity to purchase locally grown produce from Hoen’s Orchards of Delta, Ohio and Eshleman’s Fruit Farm of Clyde, Ohio. The Little Flower Church Men’s Club will be sponsoring a Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament, August 20th, at the church’s O’Grady Community Center, 5522 Dorr St at Olimphia Rd. Toledo Polie Athletic League 1st Annual Rumble at the Race Track is an Amateur Boxing Show at the Toledo Speedway on Augusta 21st. at 6pm. Tickets at $15.


Ride United, Live United: Motorcycle Ride
The Motorcycle ride will be Saturday August 21st that will begin and end at MB&T Expo Center. Registration will begin at 10pm and the ride will start at 1pm. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men. Early detection is a key component of survival. “Community Connection - Rated E for Everyone” is a health and safety fair sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church at 4560 Glendale Ave. The event will have health screenings including blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, as well as vision and glaucoma screening and dental health exhibitors. Center of Hope Unveils Renovated, Expanded Facility
In Toledo, the Center of Hope will be hosting a reception and news conference on Thursday, September 9 from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The Center of Hope; which is an outreach of Journey of Heart, Inc., provides mentoring services from women in Toledo and three other states as well. Journey of the Heart provides services internationally, with services in Albania and plans to establish a presence in New Zealand. Journey of the Heart was created in 2005 and opened its first Center of Hope at the S. Byrne Road location in 2008. It will be on 2048/2050 S. Byrne Rd Toledo, OH 43614. Northwest Ohio Cold Stone Creamery Month-Long Fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Foundation
Cold Stone Creamery is celebrating is 9th year of working together with Make-A-Wish Foundation in order to make another child’s dream come true. September 30th, 2010 is the 9th Annual “World’s Largest Ice Cream Social.” During the social, participating Cold Stone Creamery locations will be giving away three-ounce portions of Kate, an 11-year old girl with a life threatening congenital spinal cord condition, own personal ice cream creation. The social starts at 5:00pm and will last till 8:00pm. During this event, every Cold Stone store will be selling paper wish stars for $1.00 each, to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, Northwest Region. 7th Annual Santa in September Fundraiser and Rescue Event
Ohio Pug Rescue proudly announces the 7th Annual Santa in September Fundraiser and Networking Event. This year’s event will be held on September 18th in the Whitehall Community Park at 402 N. Hamilton Road, Columbus, Ohio, 43213. The time of this event starts at 1:00pm and continues till 5:00pm, rain or shine. Admission is free for children 12 years of age or younger, and also for firefighters, police officers, and active members of the armed services. The Adrian Amateur Radio Club's Annual Swap Meet

A SPOOK-TACULAR Sensory Celebration, 30 Cars for 30 Years
On October 16, 2010 from 4-7:00pm, Rehab Dynamics will be hosting a Sensation Celebration Sensory Awareness Event. The objective of this event is to raise public awareness of Sensory Processing Disorder and funds for the Foundation. The location of this event is at Rehab Dynamics on 3160 Central Park West, Toledo, OH 43617. The BOO-TIFUL event includes 30 cars with decorated trunks and goodies/treats to pass out to trunk-or-treaters, information tables for families with children or adults with SPD, and a voting booth for the best decorated trunk. Bay Park Community Hospital is providing free vascular screenings from 1 until 4pm. These free screening will be offered the second Monday of every month. In order to qualify you need to be over the age of 65, or over age 50 if they have a history of one or more of the following risk factors: diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking, or family history of vascular disease.
